3 Ways to Avoid Medicare Scams

Medicare can be very beneficial to senior citizens when it comes to lowering their medical bills. However, there are several Medicare scams out there that you will need to avoid. Here are a few ways to avoid Medicare scams effectively.

1. Avoid Door-To-Door Salesmen

As a general rule, you should try to avoid a door-to-door salesman. Whenever someone comes to your door, just pretend that you are not home. While some legitimate companies use door-to-door sales, the vast majority of scams also utilize this type of selling. If you just avoid all door-to-door salesmen, you will have a good chance of avoiding any Medicare scams.

2. Don't Reveal Information

You should also try to avoid revealing any personal or financial information to strangers. Sometimes, people will disguise this as a survey or some other low pressure means of acquiring information. Do not give up any of your personal or financial information to anyone that you do not feel comfortable with. In many cases, you could be dealing with a scam artist that is trying to take advantage of you.

3. Protect Your Medicare Number

You should also never give your Medicare number to anyone that does not need it. This is only for you and your medical providers.
