Buying holiday homes abroad can be a difficult choice because there is so much to consider.  Here are five tips that will help you choose the right home:

1. Determine the country where you want to purchase. Consider places you familiar with. You should know that you enjoy spending time there.

2. Know the economy and the culture of the selected country. The housing market in the country may or may not be favorable to buying. Researching the country's current economic situation can help you determine when the best time to buy is.

3. Decide what type of holiday home you want to purchase. Settle on the size, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms and the overall structure of the home.

4. Consider how much you want to spend for the holiday home. This would include analyzing your current financial circumstances and any financial obligations in the near future. Keep in mind that a conversion rate with apply to home purchases abroad. So the local currency should be considered as well.

5. Determine your long-term goals for the home. Will you want to lease it out later? Or will it remain vacant until needed? Keep in mind possible maintenance and other repairs that may be needed. This may be difficult to maintain from abroad.
