Can I break my lease if I am in the military?

The answer to the question, "Can I break my lease if I am in the military?" is "Yes".  Some lease agreements will explicitly state so, but if not, landlord and tenant laws in all jurisdictions allow for early termination without penalty.

You have to show orders to report to active duty or proof of recent entry into the military. The landlord cannot hold you liable for any financial loses because you break your lease early due to military service. It's a risk that landlords take when they enter into a lease agreement with military service members.
