2 Things to Remember about Real Estate Agents

Real estate agents can help you close a deal on your home, find a land contract, and negotiate a good purchase price on a piece of property.  Every professional brings their own unique skills and experiences to the table, but there are 2 main things you need to remember about real estate agents when working with them.

They Work on Commission

The real estate agent gets paid a commission. The higher the purchase price, the more they'll earn in commissions. Keep this in mind if you’re a buyer, and don’t be afraid to stand firm on the price you’re willing to pay. There are times when real estate agents pressure buyers to buy, or sellers to sell in order to get the commission they want without considering the interests of the two parties involved.

They’re Human

Real estate agents are people too. They forget things, procrastinate, have bad days and get tempted to cut corners. Make sure you communicate regularly with the agent you’re working with, and keep yourself at the top of their mind. Even though they may be juggling many properties at once, they’ll remember to work on closing your deal faster if you keep yourself in front of them.
