Boosting Your Credentials - The Investment Management Consultants Association

The Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) works to provide a way for industry professionals, with proper credentials, enhance their standing in the industry. The IMCA certifications, which include the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), is one of the ways CIMA helps to bring credibility to investment management professionals and the industry.

Certified Investment Management Analyst

The CIMA, which is administered by the IMCA, involves the various aspects of the investment management industry. Successful completion of this certification gives the practitioner knowledge of the principles of investment management and serves as a gateway toward Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification. The CIMA requires less experience than the CFA but offers a way for entry-level investment management professionals to learn more about career opportunities and the industry.

Additional Credentials Through IMCA

Additional credentials sponsored by IMCA include the Chartered Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA) and Certified Investment Strategist (CIS). The CPWA is the next level for individuals who complete the CIMA designation and are looking to provide advice and work with both individuals and institutions. The CIS was a program offered briefly by the IMCA and is still maintained by the IMCA.  Using the credentials received from a CIMA sponsored program enhances the advisor’s standing and reputation within the investment management community.
