How to get Truck Insurance Coverage

Getting truck insurance coverage might not be as cut and dry because you can not always buy with the lowest price in mind. Buying truck insurance should encompass more than just price; you should also add use, travel, and coverage for items that will be transported.

There are a number of different things to consider when buying truck insurance coverage. Among them are state and federal regulations, the type of equipment you operate, the loads you haul and many other factors. To begin the process, follow these steps:

Step 1 – Make a List

Not all insurance carriers will handle truck insurance coverage, so the first thing that you have to do is to make a list of those that do. Research insurance carriers online and check their customer satisfaction ratings report.  You want to work with a company with a good track record of payments.

Step 2 – Contact the Companies on Your List

Call around and ask for the same quote from all the agents.  Some agents may suggest discounts or other insurance services that may be related.  Avoid being sold on anything you don't need.  Keep it simple.

Step 3 – Make Your Decision

Compare price and services.  Ask a friend or a fellow truck driver to make a recommendation and then use the information from that agent to do your shopping around.
