Health Insurance - HIV Coverage

Health insurance for the HIV patient is a necessity, but not everyone is covered. There are many HIV patients that do not have health insurance and go without treatment because of a lack of resources. Some patients suffer financial hardship to get treatment and live a life of debt. Here are a few ways to get health insurance with HIV:

Find Employer With Health Coverage

If you are already employed, ask your employer about having additional coverage. You can add more insurance when you need it. Most of the time you will not need to have a physical in order to add more. If you are not currently employed, find a place where you can be under their insurance plan. Most of the time, you do not have to undergo a medical exam to get additional insurance coverage.

State Government Assistance

There are many states that have special programs available for people who are not able to afford insurance on their own. Contact your local state office and talk to them about securing health insurance. Your state website or city hall will be able to provide you with important health coverage information.

Special Charity Organizations

Because HIV is a longtime illness, and requires many costly medications and treatments, there are several non-profit charity organizations that help cover the cost of medicine. For example, there is the AIDS Healthcare Foundation Limited. They were created to help HIV patients with counseling, direction and funding for treatments and medication. Contact a local chapter for more information.
