Health Care Reform Scams: 3 Things to Watch out for

The subject of health care reform has spawned a number of different scams that are currently taking place in the market. Here are a few things to watch out for in regard to health care reform scams.

1. Limited Open Enrollment Period

One of the most common scams that occur is that scam artists will tell you that there is a limited open enrollment period to purchase insurance. They will tell you that you are required by law to purchase health insurance now that health care reform has been enacted. In reality, you are not yet required to purchase insurance and there is no limited open enrollment period to worry about.

2. Door-to-Door Sales

You will also want to watch out for door-to-door salesman that try to come to your house and sell you an insurance policy. Many of these individuals use health care reform as a way to get your attention. They will then proceed to sell you a phony health insurance policy that does not actually provide you with any benefits.

3. Medical Discount Cards

Many of these scam artists will also try to sell you medical discount cards in the name of health care reform. The truth is, these cards are useless and you will end up throwing your money away.
