Does an employer continue to pay for benefits while an employee is on long term disability?

While you are out on long term disability, your benefit package at work may be reduced. The terms of this reduction will be explained in your long term disability policy. However, an employer can not cut an employees benefits just because he or she is collecting disability. In fact, disability is designed to allow you to keep your job and meet your financial obligations while you are unable to work. Check your policy language to see which of your benefits may be reduced or suspended while you are out on disability. If you have questions on your policy, contact your human resources administrator.
