Blanket insurance is the type of policy that covers more than one type of property in a single location. For example, a homeowner's insurance policy that covers not only the home, but the belongings within the home would be considered a blanket insurance policy.

This term can also be used to describe a policy that insures the same type of property a multiple locations (such as 2 restaurants) or 2 or more types of property at 2 or more places. This eliminates the need for carrying multiple insurance policies when you own more than one property or type of property.
