Estimated federal income taxes can be filed on the IRS form 1040-ES. You can find the estimated federal tax form on the IRS website or by calling and requesting a form be mailed to you. You are required to file the federal estimated income tax form when you expect to owe $1000.00 or more in taxes to the IRS.
Filling Out The Worksheet
In order to note estimated federal taxes on the form you will need to fill out the worksheet in its entirety. Estimated earnings, deductions and taxes paid will all be required to complete the estimated tax worksheet. There are four pages of instructions that will help you to get the correct number to place in the form on page five.
The 1040- ES Form
The 1040-ES form also doubles as a payment voucher. You will enter the amount from line 17 on the worksheet as your payment amount on the form. Remember that your yearly estimated tax will be paid in four different payments. There are four different vouchers included in the form with the dates that each payment is due.
Estimated federal taxes not only help the government to receive an influx of funds throughout the tax year but they also help the individual or company taxpayer to establish a tax budget.
