Earned Income Credit Tax Tables

The earned income credit tax table is based on your overall earnings for the year and your filing status. Generally speaking, if you are married, filing separately, you will not qualify for the credit. There are other requirements as well as shown.

Other Requirements

There are income thresholds that must be met, and you must have income from employment or self employment in order to qualify as well as the following:

  • Social Security number
  • You must be a US resident or at least a resident alien for the entire year.
  • Your must not be a qualifying dependent on some else’s return

The tax credit is intended for people who work and have low income. The purpose is to give you a larger refund by reducing the amount of tax you actually owe to the government.

Most states offer this program as well, but terms may vary from those set forth by the IRS, and the amount allowed is generally about half of the allowance given to you by the Federal Government based on the earned income credit tax table.
