Step By Step: The Banking Login Process

Before using your online banking login, the first thing every bank customer wants to know is - is it safe? While convenience is the primary attraction of online banking, maximum security is clearly every bank customer's priority concern when they log in to their personal banking accounts.

People not only need assurance that their banking login information is confidential, but they have to be absolutely positive that all of their account information, personal data and credit card numbers are protected from theft. Understanding this, online banks have made certain that banking login has has built-in, extra levels of security protection against unauthorized access.

Most online companies require a simple one-step login procedure where you enter your user name and a personal identification number (PIN). But banking login is a multiple step process where an account holder is taken through several phases of identity authentication before they are able to access their confidential banking information or can begin to perform transactions on line.

Step By Step: The Banking Login Process

After you enter your account number and your access code, you will be taken to another page where you will need to answer multiple security challenge questions.
Most non-banking online sites have only one or two challenge questions, such as your mother's birthday or the name of your first pet. Banking login will take you through multiple "challenge" questions before you can move onto the next access page.
The last access page screen will require you to verify a security key image selected by you when you set up your online banking account. This is where you will also be required to enter an access code once again.
Be certain your personal data is encrypted between the bank and your computer. Check for the "paddock" symbol in the browser window.  And each time you do your online banking, use the window of your browser to type in your bank's URL.
